A Brief Lament

My heart still beats

And skips

And stalls

The blood in my veins

Still hot

My soul still stirs

Enthralled

Free falls

Breath in chest

Still knots

I still dream

And want

And wish

I need, desire and rage

Love and lust

Still stir my breast

Despite encroaching age.
