Bea's story time

Let me tell you a story...

Homepage > Poems > I am your child

I am your child

I am your child

Yet

To you I am nothing

I am your daughter

But I don’t exist

Your plans, hopes and dreams

Do not include me

You don’t see me

Hear me

Love me

Your mirror image

Your polar opposite

Your cloying shadow seeking scraps

Your toilet paper

A distant echo that sounds familiar

Easily dismissed

Forgotten

Accolades by extension

By the ghost

By the child you never had

By me.
